The Impact Stadium rather makes no impact at all on either the passing travellers or
those like us who venture inside. There are a fair number of seats to be had
but these are mainly in the segregated home part of the ground, most of
County’s large contingent were housed on the open terrace behind one goal,
kept from the touchline by the widest ` cordon sanitaire’ in the western world
that prevented specs behind the goal from clocking the touchline at all! For
sure….`If Carlsberg did football stadiums’ they would pick a different model to the one chosen by Alfreton.

Sustenanace....

Jeff- the Blog Gastronomic Guru tucks in.......

As on previous visits to these parts I found the food OK….the chips looked
fine….the sausages were eatable and there was a decent range of footy fare to tuck into.

Programme.....

`The Reds Review’ was an abysmal excuse for a publication……24 pages of
poorly put together material. There were 2 on County and precious little of
interest anywhere within its pages. That said Page 24 did offer up a laugh or
two as I noted the names of Tyson, Duxbury, Churchman, Robinson, Kirby and
3 more ex Hatters who had not worn the blue for some time, listed down to play that day.  Awesomely bad stuff ……by any yardstick!

Getting there.......

By road:
From M1: Turn off at junction 28 onto the A38 towards Derby. Follow for two-miles then take the slip road onto the B600.
Turn right at main road towards the town centre. After half-a-mile, immediately after Catholic Church on left, turn left into North Street.
The ground is 150-yards down on the right.
Journey time; approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.

By rail:
Leaving the station approach, turn right on Mansfield Road and up the hill towards the town centre.
Take the second turn left onto Prospect Street (post office on left corner, chip shop on right).
Continue for full length of Prospect Street. At top, cross Nottingham Road on a light-controlled pedestrian crossing.
Facing you is a Roman Catholic church, North Street goes down the right-hand side of the church. 150 yards down, the ground is on your right, set well back.
Approx. walking time from station is 15 minutes.

Real Ale Pubs in easy reach.......
both are 0.3m away( note the Victoria  does not allow County fans in )
First off, on High Street.....the King Alfred.....

Then....also 0.3m away is Blueys.....

Coach Travel, well as usual the Fingerpost Flyer will get you there.
