A Handshake and the Countdown begins...............

There are 3 months remaining now, before a really momentous event hits Stockport, in the form of the very first Hatters Half Marathon.
The race…..the brain child of first time Race Director John Giles, and promoted by Stockport County Supporters Cooperative, hits the streets and trails of Stockport  on Sunday 6 September, starting at 9.30 am in the shadow of Edgeley Park football ground, the home of Stockport County Football Club, on Hardcastle Road.

By the time the field has completed the 13.1mile course they will have headed off via Northgate Road and Brinksway…joined the scenic Trans Pennine Trail for some good running  along the banks of the mighty Mersey, before heading back to Edgeley Park for the finish.

Runners from all over Britain have signed up via the Run Britain Entry Form (Accessed via the following link.......

and a terrific race is anticipated, as well as a magnificent spectacle.

Stockport`s own Robinsons Brewery are very much on board being the Premier Commercial Partner for the Race.

One of 2 Hatters Half Tea Shirts gets the nod !

In addition Robinson`s will have their wonderful dray horses and vintage vehicles on show.....

...... so bring your camera on the day and fill your albums!

Not content with this the popular family brewer will be entering a team ( or maybe teams) of Dizzy Blondes, so look out for them too!

Mr John Robinson today with SCSC Events Manager Dave Marchbank.

Robinson`s terrific support for the event is supplemented by valued  additional assistance from Sweatshop, Pure 107.8 FM,Site Supply Company, Parfetts Cash & Carry, Run Britain , Seaborn Monk, and Stockport homeless charity the Wellspring who we are encouraging runners to support. With recent news of Stockport people living in Stockport caves, this support was never more needed! Please consider this if you are running.

So…..12 weeks to go, and there’s plenty of time to do the necessary training between now and race day on 6 September, so visit the race web site  www.hattershalf.co.uk
which contains all the detailed information you will need.

Do not delay then….be part of the first Stockport Hatters Half Marathon….help us strive to make it the best!
